The Killers headlined at Houston Toyota Center on May 15th, 2023 with support from The Lemon Twigs on the Imploding the Mirage Tour! This show was rescheduled twice before finally happening.
The American rock band originates from Las Vegas, Nevada and was formed in 2001. Their current lineup consists of vocalist Brandon Flowers, guitarist/backing vocalist Dave Keuning, bassist/backing vocalist Mark Stoermer, and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr.
They played classic hits such as “When You Were Young“, “Smile Like You Mean It“, “Human“, “Somebody Told Me”, and “All These Things That I’ve Done”, while still featuring four songs off “Imploding the Mirage“. They also played “Runaway Horses” off their latest album “Pressure Machine”. They encored with “Spaceman“, “Run For Cover“, and concluded their set with massive hit “Mr. Brightside” which has 1.69 Billion streams on Spotify. The crowd was singing “Open up my eager eyes ’cause I’m Mr. Brightside“!
Brandon Flowers‘ parents met as teenagers, and he wrote the song “A Dustland Fairytale” as a tribute to their marriage and lifelong romance!
Brandon Flowers exclaimed:
Welcome to the better late than never portion of the Imploding the Mirage Tour! Third time’s a charm. Am I right?
We’re sorry for rescheduling on you! If there’s a silver lining in this, which there always is. You get us at our very best. Like a well oiled machine!
He also said:
Imploding the Mirage explores the idea that two things can become one!
Flowers continued to share his appreciation:
Every now and then you have these moments where it’s like… it’s just wild that we’re playing at a place this size. We’re so thankful that we can come to a place like Houston and play in a big room like this. Thank you for coming tonight!
