The Pasadena Strawberry Festival held its inaugural “Pasadena Idol” contest, a hometown version of the hit television show American Idol. The event was envisioned by PSF Executive Director Murline Staley and presented by Executive Assistant ZAC Bailey and Margo Staley along with many PSF Volunteers.
On Saturday April 22nd Fifty hopeful contestants vied for the coveted 10 finalist positions in the finally which will play out In front of a live audience at the festival. The contest was conducted exactly as its namesake TV show, where each contestant performed before a panel of judges comprised of local personalities in the music and performing community, Susan Mele, Jana Ellsworth, Luke Kirkwood and recent American Idol contestant Trey Louis also known as “Trey from the Fe”
The top ten contestant will perform live at The Pasadena Strawberry Festival on Friday May 19th at 6pm on the Bud Light stage. The winner will receive a $500 cash prize and will represent the PSF at various events throughout the year. They will have the opportunity to perform one song Saturday night of the festival on the main stage just ahead of Big Jordan Band and headliner Aaron Watson. They will also receive a 30 Minute Set on the Bud Light Stage on Sunday.
The Pasadena Strawberry festival runs May 18th through the 21st and are celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year.
